SOLVED! Internal Server Error 500. Can't install.

First my background: far far from being a super geek, but have been developing websites over 20 years, running my own webhost and have installed hundreds of various apps on the server over the years (e.g. a new OpenCart last week) but never had this problem.
It's a "hotelcommerce-1.6.0".
It's a clean install on a top notch Linux/Apache with php 7.4. Server shows no errors in the logs. Have uploaded to server both as zipped and file by file and done "eveything" else I caan think of (e.g. why no htaccess included?), but still no go.
Anyone?

Forgot testing to change permissions for directories from 0755 to 0775. Dud that now and (TADA!!!), it works!
